The Tick-Tock of Security Casualties are down dramatically in Iraq. U.S. commanders credit the surge of forces that encouraged Iraqi citizens to come forward and take responsibility for their towns. Part of that responsibility is eliminating the stock of weapons that has fueled the insurgency all across Iraq. In a growing movement, concerned citizens and neighborhood watch groups are informing U.S. and Iraqi security forces of where weapons caches are stored. One cache at a time, the Iraqi people are demonstrating they are confident enough in their future to abandon the implements of war.
