Command Sergeant Major Jesse Lee Andrews Jr. hails from Lincolnton, Georgia, and entered the United States Army in July 1980. He attended One Station Unit Training at Fort Knox, Kentucky, and was awarded the Military Occupational Specialty 19D1O, Reconnaissance Specialist (Cavalry Scout) upon graduation.

Command Sgt. Maj. Andrews has served in the United States Army for over 25 years. During that time, he has served in the following units: Combat Support Company, 5th Battalion, 32nd Armor, 24th Infantry Division (Mechanized) at Fort Stewart; Bravo Troop, 3rd Squadron, 12th Cavalry, 3rd Armor Division in Budigen, Germany; Bravo Troop, 2nd Squadron, 17th Air Cavalry, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) at Fort Campbell, Kentucky; Bravo Troop, 1st Squadron, 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment, V Corps in Fulda, Germany; Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3rd Battalion, 37th Armor and Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Brigade, both in the 1st Infantry Division at Fort Riley, Kansas; Bravo Troop and Echo Troop, 5th Squadron, 15th Cavalry, 1st Armor Training Brigade at Fort Knox, Kentucky; Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division at Camp Casey, Tongduchon, South Korea; Senior Reserve Officer Training Corps Instructor at Georgia Military College in Milledgeville, Georgia; student at the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy—Class 51; Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, 16th Cavalry Regiment, Fort Knox, Kentucky as the Regimental S3 Operations Sergeant Major; and Battalion Command Sergeant Major for 2nd Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Benning, Georgia.

Command Sgt. Maj. Andrews has held all Noncommissioned Officer leadership positions, ranging from Rifle Team Leader to Command Sergeant Major, and has attended all levels of Noncommissioned Officer Education System schools. Additionally, he is a graduate of the Air Assault School, the Bradley Fighting Vehicle Master Gunner Course, the Master Fitness Trainer Course, Drill Sergeant School, and the Battalion Operations Sergeant Course. He is a graduate of Trinity College and University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration (with a major in Marketing Management, with distinction). He also has an Associate’s Degree in General Studies from Central Texas College.

Command Sergeant Major Andrews’ awards and decorations include: the Bronze Star Medal (with V-Device), the Bronze Star Medal (3OLC), the Purple Heart, the Meritorious Service Medal (3OLC), the Army Commendation Medal (4OLC), the Army Achievement Medal (5OLC), the Good Conduct Medal (8th award), the National Defense Medal (with Bronze Star), the Southwest Asia Service Medal, the NCO Professional Development Ribbon (with Numeral 4), the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Iraqi Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Ribbon (with Numeral 3), the Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia), the Kuwait Liberation Medal (Government of Kuwait), the Air Assault Badge and the Drill Sergeant Identification Badge. CSM Andrews is also the recipient of the Order of Saint George (Bronze Medallion) and the Honorable Order of Saint Barber.
