Memorial Day – A date for us to rememberToday we remember the heroes who paid the ultimate sacrifice. Many were our friends. They stood next to us in formation, they slept in our tents, they drove in our convoys, and they walked patrols with us. We mourn their loss.

Major General Lynch: MND-C focuses on transitionIn the past there was a large emphasis on transition in Iraq. As you all deployed in support of this rotation, you saw a new idea - securing the population.

Iraq mission is changing from combat to constructionMessage from MG Rick Lynch

Security remains 1st priority; capacity building now main focusBeginning Jan. 1, 2008, the Division will shift its focus to capacity building. However, security will always be the number-one mission, and we must continue to make safety and security our first priority without being risk averse. We will take the fight to enemy every single day between now and when we redeploy.

Safety standards keep Soldiers alive, ā€˜Leaders should never allow unnecessary risks’Even though we are forward deployed, appearance matters — you should look as good as you are. And our Soldiers are the very best.

Americans and Iraqis Want Violence to EndEverywhere I go people ask me how I have so much confidence the Army is not breaking, and it is because our magnificent Soldiers are not only taking the fight to the enemy every day, but they are reenlisting in large numbers.

Happy Birthday, Dog Face Soldiers!Today is about you – the Soldiers of Task Force Marne…you magnificent Dog Face Soldiers.

You Have A Choice In LifeOur Army is successful because of its junior leaders – young captains who were platoon leaders during Operation Iraqi Freedom I, staff officers during Operation Iraqi Freedom III, and company commanders during Operation Iraqi Freedom V.

Violence gives way to growth as surge takes effectCoalition officials are taking advantage of a decline in insurgent violence to jumpstart a transition into long-term stability operations, Maj. Gen. Rick Lynch told reporters Nov. 11 in Baghdad.

As U.S. soldiers secure areas, Iraqis rise to secure themselvesWhen the Division arrived in Iraq in March, and area due west of Baghdad was a hotbed of Shia extremists. Nahrawan was so overrun by Shia criminals and militias that we could not attack it without the proper combat power.

Attacks Way Down Thanks to YouMG Lynch Marne 6 Send, Attacks Way Down Thanks to You

From the FrontlineWe’re making a lot of progress over here in Iraq. The Surge – led by the 3rd Infantry Division – provided us the forces to take the fight to the enemy and to build patrol bases to live among the Iraqi people and safeguard their homes and villages. Our Soldiers help make the Iraqis feel safe and secure. Two of the shops I visited this week had glass doors and glass windows, a risk the shopkeepers would not have taken months ago. They feel so safe because of our hard work; they do not fear terrorist attacks anymore and are getting back to their daily lives.

Progress due to your hard workMajor General Rick Lynch Welcome Message
